President Donald J. Trump is expected to pardon dozens of individuals during his final date at The White House, according to multiple reports.
According to CNN, among those to be pardoned and commutated Tuesday are “white collar criminals, high-profile rappers and others.”
Reuters also reported the President “is opting not to issue a pardon for himself as he prepares an expansive list of more than 100 pardons and commutations for release on Tuesday.”
Meanwhile Fox News reported: “President Trump is expected to issue between 50 and 100 commutations and pardons before he leaves office this week.”
The sources told Fox News that the announcement of the pardons will likely come in one large batch on Tuesday, but there is a slight chance the White House will wait to make them official until Wednesday morning. The president has until noon on Wednesday to do so.
Fox News has learned that there was a meeting at the White House on Sunday afternoon finalize the growing list of pardons and commutations.
Despite an aggressive campaign by WikiLeaks to try to secure a pardon for its founder Julian Assange, the president is not expected to give him one.
Fox News has also learned that rapper Lil Wayne is on the list, while former Trump associate Steve Bannon is described as being “TBD.”According to Fox News.
President Trump, who has already issued two waves of pardons in the past month, met advisers on Sunday to finalize a list of more than 100 pardons and commutations, the source told Reuters.
CNN reported that Dr Salomon Melgen, a prominent eye doctor from Palm Beach who is in prison after being convicted on dozens of counts of health care fraud, is expected to be on the clemency list.
President Trump is reportedly considering issuing a pardon to former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, according to Politico reporting on last Friday.
“White House officials also still have executive orders prepared, and the President is still hopeful to declassify information related to the Russia probe before he leaves office,” CNN reports.
