Former President Donald Trump is getting set to unleash a big surprise on big tech and it could be a doozy.
He appeared via phone call with Newsmax’s Rob Finnerty and Ric Grenell on Friday and gave an ominous warning to big tech.
“Watch what I do to Big Tech this week,” the 45th President of the United States said in the interview.
“Do you think it’s time to break up Big Tech?” Grennell said to Trump.
“Well, watch next week, because you will see me do something about Big Tech,” Trump said. “And people have wanted me to do it a long time.”
“And it won’t be too surprising,” he said. “They don’t love me to talk about it early. But watch what I do next week on Big Tech. I think you will find it very interesting.”
In an interview last month, Trump told Newsmax that he supports states that take on Big Tech censorship since congressional Democrats aren’t willing to tackle the problem.
He said on Friday that “something harsh has to take place when they can censor conservative voices.”
“Look at me,” he continued. “I had hundreds of millions of followers. Okay, number one on Facebook.”
He also reiterated claims about Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who he said “couldn’t have been nicer” when they had dinner at the White House, but then used “$500 million” in “lockboxes” and that “should be illegal.”
In May, Trump slammed Facebook, Google and Twitter and called them “corrupt”, saying these social media companies “must pay a political price, and must never again be allowed to destroy and decimate our Electoral Process.”
“What Facebook, Twitter, and Google have done is a total disgrace and an embarrassment to our Country,” Trump said in a statement posted to his new communications platform on his website
“Free Speech has been taken away from the President of the United States because the Radical Left Lunatics are afraid of the truth, but the truth will come out anyway, bigger and stronger than ever before.”
