Veteran Cory Mills: Biden admin stopped our evacuation flights from Afghanistan

Army combat veteran Cory Mills coordinated a mission to get a family out of Afghanistan

Cory Mills is a U.S. military veteran who allegedly helped to rescue American citizens out of Afghanistan. He said that the Biden administration stopped private flights, which were being used for evacuation efforts, from leaving the country.

Cory Mills made the remarks during an interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Tuesday night. The veteran said that the team he worked with had the capability to evacuate 25 American citizens out of Afghanistan during “the very early days” of the Biden administration’s chaotic pullout, and that they had all the clearance and paperwork in place to do so.

“That was thwarted by the State Department and then the DOD, where they essentially tried to deny our PPR, put us in pattern for almost 15 minutes, and then even said that if you land this aircraft, that we’re going to go ahead and take the aircraft certificate, we’re gonna we’re gonna ground the pilots,” Mills said.

He added: “I mean, look, the bottom line is that would have been 25 Americans. So, this land border crossing wouldn’t have even been necessary if they could have let us land at that time.”

“On the second occasion, where we finally had to get those families out of Kabul and into a different location, they were manifested on another aircraft, that aircraft had been approved by the Taliban, had been approved by the DOD, it had been approved by the State Department, and right before the [last] hour when it was ready to fly, the State Department went ahead and canceled that flight or disapproved … that flight because they wanted to vet the manifest, which I can understand and appreciate,” Cory Mills continued.

He said: “But these are Americans who are basically being left behind. Now, again, one of the statements that you made, which I completely agree with, this isn’t a time to throw mud and be a political animal that says, okay, well, the Left did this or the Right did that.”

The Texas-based family – consisting of a mom named Mariam and her three children – finally managed to get out of Afghanistan on Monday with the help of Army combat veteran Cory Mills. Mills is pictured

Cory Mills said he understood the administration’s purported vetting concerns, but that the personnel had been thoroughly screened and that he did not want it to be a factor that “prevents us from saving Americans and keeping them in danger.”

Mills finished by asserting that the Taliban is essentially stopping anybody who wish to leave the country, including Americans, from doing so.

“The Taliban are holding them, and there is no coordination as is being told, where if you show a blue passport, you can be let in,” Mills said. “I can confirm, Chris, that’s just not true.”

Meanwhile the Biden administration hit a snag in its ‘diplomatic mission’ to rescue other Americans and Afghan allies still stranded after negotiations between the State Department and Taliban officials reportedly broke down over the weekend.

Six private charter planes sent to the city of Mazar-i-Sharif  to evacuate at least 1,000 people have been grounded 260 miles north of Kabul.

Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal said he was ‘frustrated, even furious’ at the government’s delay in pulling them out.

“There will be plenty of time to seek accountability for the inexcusable bureaucratic red tape that stranded so many of our Afghan allies,” Blumenthal told The Hill. “For now, my singular focus remains getting these planes in the air and safely to our airbase in Doha, where they have already been cleared to land.”
