A video shared to Twitter showing drone footage of hundreds of illegal immigrants crossing into the United States from Mexico has sparked widespread attention on social media.
She shared a tweet from Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin, who said the footage showed the “largest group of migrants we’ve ever seen being held by Border Patrol under Anzalduas Bridge in Mission, TX.”
“Looks like it could be up to 1,000 people,” Melugin posted. “We can only get a look at the area with our drone. There’s a popular Rio Grande crossing area nearby.”
Republicans have criticized the Biden Administration’s handling of the border issue, which has resulted in the entry of thousands of potentially COVID-positive illegals.
The situation has deteriorated to the point where Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared last week that the state’s national guard would be sent to assist troopers in making arrests.
On Monday, Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) called for Democrat President Joe Biden and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to be impeached, citing the administration’s escalating border problem.
Roy posted online a breakdown of preliminary illegal immigration totals from July. He states that last month hit the highest levels since 2000 with more than 205,000 border crossers encountered by federal immigration officials and 37,400 known got-aways, that is, illegal aliens who successfully crossed the U.S.-Mexico border.
