Republican Madison Cawthorn has told House speaker Nancy Pelosi she is “not God”, as he accused her of “medical apartheid” over the reinstatement of face coverings in Congress.

On the House floor, Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) decried Speaker Pelosi for reinstating a mask mandate on members of the House and their staffs, accusing her of “medical apartheid.”

The North Carolina representative said on Friday: “Your will does not bow the knee of millions of my countrymen who refuse to heed your callous command.”

REP. MADISON CAWTHORN: Madam Speaker, you are not God.

Your will does not bend the forest or shake the mountains.

Let me assure you, your will does not bow the knee of millions of my countrymen who refuse to heed your callous command. To threaten arrest on others for their own personal medical decisions is nothing short of medical apartheid. And I will not let it stand.

If I am to cowardly bend the knee here, like those on the left wish, then what is to stop you all from taking your tyranny to the rest of this country that I love.

How dare anyone in this institution attempt to dictate to the patriots on my staff how they may live their lives.

For one to think that because they have the title ‘honorable’ attached to their name means that they may dictate what others may say and think repulses me. What makes this nation special is that here in this free land, the people are the royalty.

So arrest us if you will, but I will not cower and I will not bend. You have come to take away our liberties, but Madam Speaker, in this country you are outnumbered.

On July 31, Madison Cawthorn tweeted: “Pelosi is a power-hungry tyrant. With her at the gavel, our American freedoms are being trampled.”

Madison Cawthorn makes bail fund for anti-mask Republicans

Representative Madison Cawthorn has established an online bail fund for Republicans who are arrested for not wearing a mask inside the Capitol.

“If Kamala can pay the bail for violent Antifa rioters, then I can pay the bail for any Republican staffer arrested for not wearing a mask. Join me,” Hawthorn wrote in a tweet published Thursday afternoon.

His tweet referenced a Republican claim that Vice President Kamala Harris donated to the Minnesota Freedom Fund (MFF), a group that bailed out violent racial justice and anti-fascist (Antifa) protesters.

On Tuesday, the Office of Attending Physician, Brian P. Monahan, reinstituted the mandatory mask mandate in all House spaces, including offices, meeting areas and the main House chamber.

This week, Thomas Manger, chief of the Capitol Police, said that congressional aides and visitors that don’t wear masks will be denied entry to House spaces. If they don’t then put on a mask or leave the premises, they could be arrested for unlawful entry, he added.

Any legislators who refuse to wear a mask will have their cases referred to the House Sergeant at Arms, the chamber’s chief law enforcement official, The Hill reported.

Additionally, they could be fined $500 for a first offense and $2,500 for each subsequent offense, according to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

On Thursday, House Republicans demonstrated against the new reinstated mask rules by marching maskless in the Senate. The group included Cawthorn and dozens of other Republican legislators.
