The Trump campaign issued a statement Sunday night, announcing Sidney Powell is not a member of President Trump’s legal team.
Former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell is not part of President Donald Trump’s legal team, according to a statement from Rudy Giuliani, the head of the president’s post-election legal effort.
“Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own. She is not a member of the Trump Legal Team. She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity,” the statement said.
The statement was posted online by campaign attorney Jenna Ellis on behalf of lead campaign attorney Rudy Giuliani.
Last week, President Donald Trump said Powell would be part of his team and representatives. Powell appeared alongside Giuliani and Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis several days later, making claims about voting software companies being involved in a transnational conspiracy to overturn the election.
Sidney Powell is suspended by Twitter
Meanwhile, Sidney was censored and suspended by Twitter earlier today.
Gen. Michael Flynn, a former Trump administration official, said lawyer Sidney Powell is “staying the course” and will prove election fraud after the president’s legal team said she is not working for the campaign on Sunday night.
Mike Flynn, Jr. released a statement tonight, saying that “Sidney Powell has been suspended from Twitter for twelve hours.”
“She understands the WH press release and agrees with it today. She is staying the course to prove the massive deliberate election fraud that robbed #WeThePeople of our votes for President Trump and many other Republican candidates,” Mike Flynn said.
Sidney Powell issues a statement
Later, Attorney Sidney Powell released a statement late on Sunday after the Trump legal team announced that she was not part of their legal defense team.
“I understand today’s press release,” Powell wrote. “I will continue to represent #WeThePeople who had their votes for Trump and other Republicans stolen by massive fraud through Dominion and Smartmatic, and we will be filing suit soon.”
“The chips will fall where they may, and we will defend the foundations of this great Republic,” she continued. “#KrakenOnSteroids”
Her statement is announced by a CBS News reporter.
What is behind the story?
So the big question now is: Why Sidney Powell is not a member of the Trump legal team?
Powell has aggressively promoted allegations about electronic voting systems used during the 2020 election, specifically machines and software operated by Dominion Voting Systems. She has alleged that the system switched votes to former Vice President Joe Biden from Trump, either by tampering with the physical devices or remote hacking.
Dominion Voting Systems has rejected the allegations. A spokesman for the company said on Nov. 22 that the company’s software didn’t switch votes to Biden from Trump.
Powell said on Nov. 21 that the president’s lawyers will file a lawsuit of “biblical” proportions soon, alleging that some election officials were embroiled in a pay-to-play scheme with a prominent manufacturer of voting software.
“We’ve got tons of evidence; it’s so much, it’s hard to pull it all together,” Powell told Newsmax.
“Hopefully this week we will get it ready to file, and it will be biblical.
“It’s a massive project to pull this fraud claim together with the evidence that I want to put in.”
Powell and the Trump campaign didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
