Balanced News Diet Planner
Choose source roles that reduce duplication and improve viewpoint and evidence diversity.
What this tool is for
Context changes what a headline means.
How to use it
The planner builds a source mix by role rather than by brand. Select local, national, international, primary-source, specialist and viewpoint-challenging channels so that different parts of your information diet contribute different kinds of evidence.
What it does not prove
More sources do not automatically produce more balance. Ten outlets repeating the same wire copy add less diversity than one local reporter, one primary record and one specialist publication with independent access. Prune sources that rarely add new information.
When to escalate
Use the plan as a weekly template, not a minute-by-minute obligation. Keep fast alerts narrow, route deeper analysis into dedicated reading time, and review whether your mix still covers the places and institutions that matter to you.
